Letters from Jane August ’15

Hi! My Name is Pippa! Jane told me you all are very nice people and I wanted to introduce myself. I am a special needs pup with severe seasonal allergies. My friend Missy with Big Hearts Rescue took me in from Hillsborough Animal Control. She said I was very close to seeing the rainbow bridge into heaven. I am up for permanent fostering because of my allergies and how much care I need. I do get special food and I am on medications for my allergies. I am ok with other dogs but I would rather be an only dog cause I like all the attention to myself! They say I have green eyes when someone else is getting attention. I don’t like those crazy kitties, they tease me a lot so I feel like I need to chase them. I do have a lot of energy and would be wonderful in an active family household. I was seen at BVH this past month and one of the girls suggested Agility for me. She said it has a lot of obstacles to play on and jump over and go through. It sounds like a load of fun!!! I would like to find that special someone like Jane.

Another topic the girls at BVH would like me to discuss is the heat and dogs being outdoors. Dr. Blake and his staff want to make sure that your pet is safe this summer when it comes to the heat. And it is really hot outside! I hear it all the time from you folks that it seems like it’s been record breaking hot and humid this year.

Not all dogs can tolerate the heat outside especially with the humidity on top of that. I am ok with water but others love it, It’s great when it comes out of the hose and kiddie pools make great fun and I notice it does cool me down a bit. So I am sure that there are others would love having a kiddy pool around to play in and to keep cool.

Also a neat trick one of the girls told me is that you can take a plastic bucket (doesn’t have to be big, you can use a large yogurt container), fill it with water or diluted low sodium chicken broth, let it freeze for about 1-2 hours, when its slushy, she said that you can add in dollops of plain or vanilla flavored yogurt, pieces of bananas, peanut butter, AND puppy cookies!!! Put it back into the freezer to let it solidify and when it’s ready, take it outside while you guys are around to watch us go at it and lick all the ice and get these awesome goodies out to help occupy our minds and keep our lickers nice and cool! Man I am drooling right now! Wish I could have some!

Well the outside is calling me, I gotta go run. If you are interested in fostering me, please email Missy at bhrescue@gmail.com. Thank you all for hearing my story!
